The scope of this course is to provide new emergency managers an opportunity to understand all the basic concepts of the Texas response to disasters and emergencies. This bridge course is not designed to be an all-inclusive, comprehensive course; however, it does provide a short snapshot of the basic functions emergency managers are required to perform in the early phases of disaster. It also helps the Texas emergency manager understand the transition into the recovery process. Through each unit of this course, you will be able to understand and identify additional specific training opportunities that specialize in each area discussed. Obtaining the training required to be proficient in emergency management can take years. By the same token, it may only take one event to truly wrap your head around all the points and presentations that are made, not only in this course but in other courses as you take your journey in emergency management.
